The last paragraph of section 3.1.3 states that: “MassDEP has found, however, that Johnson & Ettinger modeling is useful for developing generic standards (i.e., Method 1 GW-2) that are both health-protective and useful, resulting in a balance of conservative inputs and practical considerations.” Given this, would the Department consider use of the attenuation factors used to derive the GW-2 standards as an appropriate method for evaluating vapor intrusion? This could alleviate concerns about mis-use of the model or use of inappropriate parameters. For example, the “GW-2” attenuation factor for PCE is 7.28E-4.
